June 16 - June 29, 2007
8:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. Daily
This
special Childrens Division program is offered to children from
8 to 10 years of age only. It is designed to balance skill-appropriate
music activities (such as beginner, intermediate, or advanced
orchestra participation) with age-appropriate social activities.
Campers
in the Day Camp Program are placed according to skill level
in one of six festival orchestras, which rehearse daily from
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. At the conclusion of each morning's orchestra
rehearsal, students in this program - regardless of orchestra
placement - are escorted back to the Children's Division, where
they will spend the remainder of the day with students of their
own age. Children in the Day Camp Program our dismissed at 5:15
p.m.
This
exciting two-week program includes private lessons with members
of The Philadelphia Orchestra, solo performance opportunities,
orchestra rehearsals, choir, daily practice hours, discussion
groups, master classes, optional chamber music participation,
instructional music game sessions, opportunities to attend concerts
featuring members of The Philadelphia Orchestra and more!
Free
time activities include arts and crafts, swimming, tennis, basketball,
soccer, and other sporting activities.
Please
note that children 8 - 10 years of age may also participate in
the Strings International Music Festival as resident campers.

Children
also have the option of attending as Extended Day Campers. Extended
Day Campers attend all day and evening sessions, but do not
reside on campus. They are dismissed at 9:00 p.m., at the close
of the scheduled evening activity. Phone the office for more
details, or simply note: "Extended Day Camper" in
the "Comments" section of the on-line registration
form. Extended Day Campers are served lunch and dinner and are
not charged for housing (see Registration Form).
